Afshan Lakha maintains a respected presence in the Bellevue, Washington, entrepreneurial sphere and is a longtime supporter of the arts. Among the organizations Afshan Lakha contributes to are the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB).
The latter performing arts company plays a vital role in the local area through combining traditional favorites such as The Nutcracker with performances generated through the New Works Initiative. This effort has a core focus on exposing audiences to new choreographies of familiar musical scores, as well as to staging entirely new works.
PNB also facilitates the Second Stage program, which provides dedicated career transition services to veteran dancers wishing to pursue a career beyond dance. Toward this end, program participants receive mentorship and counseling, as well as grants toward further education. Second Stage has been effective in enabling dancers to take on diverse professional roles, including as small business owners and fitness instructors, as well as helping them prepare for careers in law and medicine.
